After Wednesday's big hike we decided to lay low and have a "kick-back" day on Thursday. The boys didn't even get up until about 10:30. Mario and I kept thinking we should go in and check on them to make sure they were okay. But finally our sleepy-eyed crew stumbled from their rooms, ate some pancakes and settled on the couch to watch the UEFA semi-final match between Italy and Germany. I had a "happy home" of soccer fans after Italy scored the first goal and a really happy home when they scored again and eventually won the match.
In the late afternoon we loaded up the car with the kayaks and headed over to Sand Harbor.
Anthony, Ryan and I took the kayaks out and spent a couple of hours exploring the coves on the North Shore of Tahoe. I wish I could take photos from the kayak but I don't dare take my camera out; there is always the chance that an errant wave could swamp the boat. And so those "photos" must remain mental pictures logged in memory.
At one point Anthony and Austin decided to swim out to the buoy. Mario followed along in the kayak in case the cold got to either of the boys and they needed help getting back to shore...they did!
The boys also played frisbee and wuffle ball. Ryan finally waded into the water, but just to retrieve the frisbee. He is no fool-that water is cold!
All rested up after a relaxing day on the beach we will be ready to hit the trails again tomorrom heading to Lake Caples and the Emmigrant Lake trail in the Carson Pass...Until then....be well!
