With all these snow layouts I've been creating lately you might think I live someplace where it actually snows rather than sunny Southern California! I don't have any explanation for this except that my family does love to go play in the stuff and it only takes a quick half-hour drive up the mountain to get to a wonderful winter playground.
Today however we might not have to even drive to get to the snow! A Pacific Storm has teamed up with a wild Arctic blast of cold air and we are experiencing a pretty severe winter storm. The news is telling us there are white-out conditions in Julian and on Palomar Mountain. We are getting tons of rain and some pretty wicked winds. But the really interesting thing is that the snow level continues to drop. The weather report is estimating that it may drop down to 1800 feet elevation. I think that we are at 1200 feet elevation. Wouldn't it be wild if it actually snowed at our house tonight?!! Oh, my boys would just FLIP!! I'm sure that regardless of what happens here we will undoubtedly be taking a trip up to the mountains this weekend; I'm already digging out the parkas! Until then, here is a layout I created yesterday from a previous trip to Palomar Mountain, starring my sweet Pookie Bear.
